The Story Behind Gelato 41
Gelato came out of San Francisco in the mid-2010s, bred by Mario Guzman, better known as Mr. Sherbinski, working alongside the Cookie Fam collective and Berner. The cross paired two already legendary genetics: Sunset Sherbet (itself a GSC x Pink Panties cross) with Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies. From that seed run, dozens of phenotypes were numbered and tested. Pheno 25 (Larry Bird) leaned fruity and euphoric. Pheno 33 (Larry Bird) went tropical and balanced. But pheno 41, eventually named Bacio Gelato, emerged as the standout. It locked in a cream-forward, vanilla-and-berry terp profile with the most potent effects of the entire line, and the structure was ideal for cultivation: dense, frosty, resinous. Sherbinski made it his flagship.
The cultural impact followed quickly. Gelato 41 became one of the most referenced strains in hip-hop, alongside Runtz and GSC itself. It proved that phenotype selection wasn’t just a grower’s obsession but something the market could taste and feel. Two parents, dozens of seeds, and the one that won was the creamiest, heaviest, most complete expression of the Gelato vision. This cut by Rimikkusu brings that same genetic profile to Koh Samui.
The Nose
Crack the seal and Sweet cream rolls out immediately, warm and rich, like vanilla frosting on fresh pastry. Creamy sits right underneath, thick and unmistakable. Then Vanilla opens up as the nugs breathe, with Citrus brightness cutting through the sweetness. Break a nug and the Earthy GSC backbone appears, grounding all that dessert with soil and kush, while a quiet Berry note rounds out the edges. Caryophyllene threads a peppery kick through the cream, Limonene keeps the top end bright with citrus pop, and Linalool smooths everything out with floral, lavender softness. Myrcene holds the base together with musky, herbal depth. Dense, compact nugs with deep purple undertones hiding under a heavy trichome coat.
The Smoke
First pull lands sweet and creamy across the palate, full and smooth, with that vanilla quality carrying through the entire draw. On the exhale, citrus sharpens and the berry sweetness lifts, giving the smoke a layered, dessert-like finish. Mid-joint, earthy depth fills in as the Myrcene comes through, grounding the sweetness. The Caryophyllene builds steadily toward the last third, concentrating peppery spice in the resin ring, while Linalool keeps the transition smooth and floral. The burn is even and the ash stays white all the way down. Flavour holds from the first draw to the roach without dropping off.
The High
The onset is quick. Euphoria washes through the headspace within the first few minutes, clean and genuine, lifting the mood without any racing thoughts. Happy follows right alongside it, not forced, just a natural shift toward feeling good about whatever you are doing. Then Creative energy surfaces, thoughts connecting easily, conversations flowing. Around the 15-minute mark, Relaxation starts spreading through the body, the indica genetics making themselves known. It is not couch-lock territory at this level, but you feel it in the limbs, warm and present. Body Calm deepens that physical ease, settling tension without shutting you down. The Sunset Sherbet parentage gives the high that balanced quality where the euphoria and the relaxation coexist instead of one cancelling the other. Medium sleepiness means late-night sessions will drift toward sleep naturally, but daytime use stays functional.

Who Should Try Gelato 41 by Rimikkusu?
At this potency, Gelato 41 by Rimikkusu hits hard enough to satisfy experienced smokers while staying functional for most situations. Anxiety risk is medium, so if you are sensitive, start with a few pulls and let it settle before going further. The Linalool helps keep things smooth, but the THC ceiling is real. On the medical side, the combination of euphoria and body relaxation makes this a natural fit for stress, anxiety, and chronic pain, with enough sedation to help with depression and insomnia without knocking you out. This is the strain that defined a generation of dessert genetics. If you have smoked anything in the Gelato, Sherbet, or Cookies family and wondered where it all started, this is the answer.
