Nine times out of ten it is the same genetics raised in different conditions. A Thai grow usually lands a little lower in THC than its California namesake, which is exactly why it costs so much less. Put the three shelves side by side: Thai flower runs 150฿ to 400฿ a gram, loose Cali Weed sits between 600฿ and 850฿, and a sealed Cali Pack starts around 2,700฿. Neither shelf is wrong. Plenty of people here buy Thai for the week and save the Cali for a night worth marking.

Thailand has grown cannabis for centuries. Up north, farmers cultivated tall sativa landraces built for tropical heat, famous for a soaring, electric high and a sweet, spicy aroma. The legendary Thai stick came out of that world, flower tied onto thin bamboo skewers to dry, and soldiers carried the name home through the Vietnam War era. Those genetics went on to feed Haze, Northern Lights and Blueberry, so half the strains on the planet owe Thailand something.
