The Story Behind Sunset Sherbet

Sunset Sherbet is one of those strains that quietly rewired modern cannabis. Mr. Sherbinski bred it in the San Francisco Bay Area, and the origin was half accident: around 2014, at his grandmother’s house, a Pink Panties male pollinated his Girl Scout Cookies plant. Pink Panties traces back to a Burmese landrace worked into an OG Kush line, and pairing it with the Thin Mint cut of GSC threw a sweeter, fruitier, more colourful offspring than either parent. The name comes from the orange and purple sunset hues the flower puts on late in flower.

What makes Sunset Sherbet historically heavy is everything that came after it. This is the mother of the entire Gelato line, and through Gelato it sits behind a whole generation of dessert hybrids. Salus Samui, a Koh Samui solventless maker, took that pedigree and washed it into live rosin, freezing the plant fresh and pressing the ice water hash so the terpenes survive intact instead of cooking off in a cure. The Nose

Crack the jar and the sweetness arrives first. Citrus leads, bright and zesty, the Limonene doing its lemon-orange thing right at the top. Sweet sits underneath like spun sugar, and a Tropical note adds mango and pineapple warmth. Dig in and you find Berry and a sugary Candy edge, the part that earns the sherbet name. Behind the fruit, a peppery warmth from the Caryophyllene keeps it from reading flat, and that low musky pull is the Myrcene, quietly flagging the body weight waiting on the other side. The Dab
