The Story Behind Green Dawg

Drew Coggio, Eliot Papas and Keegan Manning started Green Dawg in Sacramento in 2014, three lifelong friends running an indoor room. A decade on, the operation is award-winning and quietly central: several cuts you know under someone else’s brand were grown here, Zoap and RS11 among them. That is the part worth knowing about them, because it means the growing is the product, not the label on the front.

Frawg Poison is a good example of how they work. Ronin Seeds released Animal Face crossed with Sin Mintz out of Los Angeles, and the keeper everyone remembers from that pack became Toad Venom. But thirty seeds give up more than one plant worth keeping, and the growers who hunted their own selections put them out under their own amphibian names. Frawg Poison is Green Dawg’s pick from that same cross, and it is a genuinely different plant from its famous sibling.
