The Story Behind Ogz

Ogz, also known as OZK or OG Zkittlez, is one of the more purposeful crosses to come out of California’s Z wave. While Zkittlez was sweeping cup circuits in the mid-2010s with its explosive fruit-candy terps, breeders noticed it lacked the structural backbone and gassy punch that OG heads wanted. Karma Cartel runs this particular cut, leaning into phenos that kept the Zkittlez candy profile intact while letting the OG side add weight and depth.

Dying Breed Seeds is widely credited with popularizing the OZK cross, selecting phenos from Zkittlez x OG Kush lines that balanced both parents without letting either one dominate. The Zkittlez side traces back to the Grape Ape x Grapefruit lineage that Terp Hogz made famous, and crossing it into OG Kush gave the offspring better yields, denser structure, and that unmistakable fuel-and-earth finish underneath the fruit. The Nose
