The Story Behind Tidebanger

This one is fresh off the bench. Wizard Trees, the California house behind Zoap, RS11 and Zangria, has been teasing Tidebanger as the follow-up to Zangbanger, the strain that took an industry award at the Zalympix in late 2025. Wizard Trees grower Scott Lane has called it a project that sat in development for a few years before they were happy with it, and he expects it to be a main staple of the lineup going forward, with real volume landing through 2026. In other words, this is a drop they have been sitting on, not a one-off.

The name tells you the genetics. Tidebanger pulls the Tide cut, a candy-sweet Blue Zushi selection, onto Zang Banger, the family workhorse. Zang Banger is Sherbanger 22 crossed with Zangria, so both the Sherbanger fuel funk and the Zangria candy run in the background, a line known for fuel-drenched sherbet and powdery, resin-caked structure. The cross is confirmed on the pack, and the flavour direction is exactly what that family is famous for: sweet fruit candy riding on top of heavy gas.

The Nose

It fills the room before the seal is even broken. Crack it open and a thick wave of gassy diesel funk pushes out first, the kind that hangs in the air. Right behind it comes the fruit: ripe berry and bright candy sherbet, with a sweet creamy edge underneath. There is a soft citrus lift hiding in the back and a creamy pastry note that rounds the whole thing out. That heavy fuel core is the Caryophyllene talking, while the zesty top notes come from the Limonene, and a deeper musk underneath points to the Myrcene. The nugs themselves are caked, more powdery frost than sticky, the resin sitting so thick it dulls the green.

The Smoke

The flavour flips on you in a good way. The inhale leans into the sweet side first, all candy and creamy sherbet, almost dessert-like, and then the exhale brings the gassy funk roaring back through. Midway down the berry shows up again as the Limonene brightens things, while the Caryophyllene keeps that fuel weight anchored at the back of the throat. The smoke is on the heavier, oilier side rather than feather-light, so a slow draw treats it best.

The High

It opens bright. The first few minutes bring a clear euphoric lift with a uplifting, happy headspace that has you chatty and easy. Then the Sherbanger weight rolls in and the body takes over: a deep relaxed wave, a soothing calming ease, and a proper body high that pins you into the seat.
