The Story Behind Zkittlez

Few strains reshaped the candy era like Zkittlez. It came out of a collaboration between Terp Hogz, the team of Fields and Tony Mendo, and 3rd Gen Family’s Brandon Parker, who grew it out, ran it through the contest circuit, and spun a whole family of Z crosses off the back of it. The genetics trace to Grape Ape and Grapefruit with an undisclosed third parent, and the name picked up its ‘Z’ spelling to sidestep a certain rainbow candy trademark.

The pedigree is not just hype. The Original Z took first place at the 2016 Emerald Cup and kept placing in Cannabis Cups from San Francisco to Michigan, and in 2023 the Terp Hogz crew settled that trademark scrap and started calling it The Original Z. This Cali Pack comes from Major League, who kept the loud fruit and the mellow body ride that made people fall for the Z in the first place.

The Nose

Crack the seal and the fruit arrives first: a wave of sweet candy that genuinely reads like a handful of fruit chews. Under it sits ripe berry and a fruity grape-soda depth from the Grape Ape side, with a bright citrus zip of grapefruit slicing through the middle and a soft tropical edge behind it. That gentle floral lift under the sugar is the Linalool at work, while Caryophyllene adds a faint peppery snap and Humulene grounds it with a woody, almost hoppy base.
