The Story Behind Lemon Orange

This one is pure Green House Seeds arithmetic. They took Super Lemon Haze, the Franco Loja cross of Lemon Skunk and Super Silver Haze that won them two Cannabis Cups and defined lemon weed for a generation, and put it over their own selected Clementine out of the Crockett family line. The Clementine side was picked for one trait above all: sweet peeled-orange juice with none of the acid bite that usually comes with citrus.

The result does exactly what it says on the packet. Super Lemon Haze hands over the haze structure, the long airy buds and the racing head, while Clementine rounds the sharp edges into something that actually tastes sweet rather than sour. Green House lists it near 29% THC, which puts it at the top end of anything haze-derived. Ours is a Thai grow of that line, so treat the numbers as the breeder record for the genetics rather than a lab result on this particular lot.

The Nose

You smell this one before the jar is fully open. Lemon comes off it like fresh zest under a knife, followed immediately by a rounder, sweeter orange that softens the whole thing. Underneath there is a dry earthy base that keeps it from reading like a cleaning product, and the buds are long, airy and haze-shaped, pale with orange hairs running through them.

Practically all of that top end is Limonene, and this cut carries an unusual amount of it. Terpinolene adds the faint herbal, almost piney lift you get on the second sniff, while Caryophyllene sits quietly at the bottom with a touch of pepper. The overall effect is closer to a fruit bowl than to a sweet shop, and the citrus never lets up.

The Smoke

It burns fast and clean, the way haze usually does, and the smoke stays thin enough that you can take a proper pull without coughing. The flavour holds together better than most citrus strains: lemon on the inhale, orange on the exhale, with a slightly resinous aftertaste that hangs around. Meanwhile the sweetness builds rather than fades, so the third hit tastes sweeter than the first.

The High

The lift is immediate and it does not ask permission. Energetic and Uplifting arrive within a minute or two, closely trailed by a clean Euphoric rush that sits behind the eyes. From there it settles into Focused and Creative, the working end of a sativa high, and it keeps you Happy and Sociable for a good two hours before it starts to fade.

At 27-30% this is a lot of haze at once, and the pace of it is the thing to respect. There is no body weight to catch you, so the whole dose lands upstairs. Overall it is the closest thing we stock to an espresso, and it should be treated with the same caution after four in the afternoon.

Who Should Try Lemon Orange?

Reach for Lemon Orange when you have things to do. It suits the wake-and-bake crowd, anyone who smokes before a long walk or a session of actual work, and anyone chasing citrus flavour rather than dessert. Customers who find themselves flat in the mornings tend to get on with it best.

The caveat is real, though: anxiety risk is medium here and the potency is high, which is a combination that can tip a nervous smoker into a racing head. If that is you, take one hit and give it ten minutes before the second. Medically, the people who ask for it use it against fatigue, low mood and appetite loss, and it works for all three without putting you anywhere near a nap.
