Kalimotxo
Kalimotxo Strain
The Kalimotxo strain is Doja Pak’s love letter to a Basque bar drink: the half-and-half mix of red wine and cola that Spain pours over ice on a hot afternoon. In flower form it is a balanced hybrid (50/50) crossing Lime Sickle with Zangria, running hot at 24 to 29% THC. You taste the drink it is named after: sharp lime candy up top, a dark wine-berry sweetness underneath, and a clear social lift that carries from afternoon into the evening.

The Kalimotxo Strain Story
This one comes out of Doja Pak, the Sacramento operation run by Ryan Bartholomew that built its name on loud, dessert-leaning exotics. Kalimotxo was a limited drop made with Duke of Erb, and its parents are pure Doja pedigree. Lime Sickle is Doja’s own cross of Zkittlez and Strawberry Zkillato. Zangria comes from Wizard Trees, a blend of Thin Mint Cookies and The Original Z. If you are keeping score, that puts Zkittlez on both sides of the family tree, which is exactly where all the candy sweetness and the rock-solid structure come from.
The naming is half the fun. Kalimotxo is the Basque wine-and-cola drink, and Zangria is a wink at sangria, so Doja leaned all the way into the theme. The flower actually delivers on it: there is a genuine wine-like depth sitting under the citrus that you do not get from most candy strains.
The Nose
Crack a jar and the first thing out is lime, sharp and almost soda-like, the kind of zest that makes your mouth water. Right behind it come berry and a wine-dark sweetness, with a candy roundness and a faint gassy edge on the back end that stops it getting too dessert-like. The citrus is the headline, but it is the layering that makes it interesting. That bright lift is the Limonene talking, while Myrcene and Caryophyllene round out the base with a soft, slightly peppery body. The nugs run frosty and dense, with that Zkittlez-family chunk to them.
The High
For a balanced hybrid, Kalimotxo leans more toward the head than the couch, at least to start. It opens focused and creative, a euphoric, happy lift that makes it a genuinely sociable smoke, good for company and conversation. Give it twenty minutes and a calming, relaxed body settles in, but it never tips you all the way into sleep, which is why this one runs day into night. At 24 to 29% THC it is no lightweight, so call it a 4 out of 5, but the low anxiety risk keeps it friendly. If you smoke for stress, a low mood, or just to shift your brain into a better gear, it is a reliable pick.

Strains Related to Kalimotxo
Kalimotxo sits deep in the Zkittlez family, so the obvious place to start is the source itself: Zkittlez, the candy landrace both of its parents descend from. Zoza is a close cousin that shares the same Zangria side of the cross, with a similar sweet, fruit-forward feel.
