The Story Behind Blue Pop

Blue Pop comes out of The Agrarian Society, a breeder more interested in loud terpene crosses than in whatever is trending that season. Star Supremacy went to Bahama Peel, and it is the Bahama Peel that supplies the strange lemon-rind sharpness, a citrus that cuts against the berry instead of blending into it. Most phenotypes land firmly on the indica side.

Fresh frozen is the format that suits this particular cut. The flower goes into the freezer at harvest rather than hanging to dry, so the volatile top end never gets a chance to evaporate off, and Madlabs washes it in ice water while everything is still locked in place. What comes out of the bags is the strain at its most vivid: berry and lemon at full volume, nothing rounded off yet. It starts from the same material as the Piatella, only without the cold cure, so where the pressed slab turns dark and deep, this one stays bright and immediate.

The Nose

This is fruit-forward hash and it makes no secret of it. Blueberry arrives first, jammy and thick, with grape candy stacked right behind. Then the citrus lands and rearranges everything: a sharp lemon rind snap, faintly chemical, that keeps the citrus side loud instead of letting it settle into something soft and pleasant. Under all of it a sugary sweet base holds the berry and the lemon together. The musk at the bottom is Myrcene laying the groundwork for later, the lemon snap rides the Limonene, and a thread of Caryophyllene puts a peppery edge on the finish. Uncured, it sits pale and sandy in the jar and smells like a punnet of berries somebody just cut a lemon over.

The Smoke

Keep the heat low or you will burn off the best part. The inhale opens blueberry sweet and round, jam leading before anything else gets a word in, and on the exhale the lemon cracks through with that rindy bite while the grape softens the landing. Because none of this has been cured, the flavour behaves differently to a pressed slab: it peaks within the first few seconds and drops away faster, which is the trade you accept for getting the fruit this vivid. The melt is quick and clean, and the sweet lingers on the palate well after the vapour has cleared.

The High

Uncured hash tends to arrive early, and this is no exception. Two or three minutes in you get a bright happy lift and a clean euphoric edge, quicker off the mark than the pressed version of the same wash. It does not stay polite for long. A calming weight starts working down through the shoulders, relaxed thickens into a real body high, and the heavy end lands without any warning shot. Sort out whatever you need for the night before the second dab, because you will not be getting up to fetch it.
