What makes good hash

Hash is only as good as the flower and the wash behind it. A good wash melts clean, keeps its terpenes and leaves no grit or contaminants behind. When a maker shares the micron, the strain and the wash method, the product page says so.

Piatella, Fresh Frozen, Dry Sift, Static or Bubble?

The format is really about how the resin was collected and cured. Here is the quick version we give every customer:

• Piatella — full-melt ice water hash, dried cold, laid flat and cured sealed for weeks, with no heat and no press. It comes out a glossy, buttery slab with loud terpenes. Best low and slow. See Tricho Jordan Piatella by Madlabs.
• Fresh Frozen (FF) — washed from flower frozen live at harvest, so it locks in the loudest, most true-to-plant terpenes. Bright, fragrant and full-melt.
• Dry Sift — trichomes sieved dry with no water at all. A classic, clean kief-to-hash texture and a great everyday option.
• Static — separated using static electricity for an exceptionally pure, contaminant-free head stash. See GMO Papaya by Static Room.
• Bubble — ice-water hash, washed cold through mesh bags. The original full-melt and still a benchmark for quality.

You will often see a micron number like 73µ or 90µ on the label. That is the mesh size the resin was collected through; the 70–90µ range is the classic full-melt sweet spot.

How to pick your hash

Not sure where to start? Use this shortcut:

• First time with hash? Start with a dry sift or a fresh frozen and top a bowl before you commit to a rig.
• Chasing flavour? Go fresh frozen or piatella, where the terpenes are at their loudest.
• Want the cleanest, purest melt? Reach for static or bubble.

How to smoke hash

The best way depends on the format. Full-melt grades (fresh frozen, piatella, static and bubble) shine on a dab rig at a low temperature, where the flavour really opens up. Any hash also works crumbled on top of a bowl or rolled into a joint with flower. Lower-melt dry sift is happiest on top of a bowl rather than on a nail. Go gentle on the dose, hash is stronger than flower.

Keep your hash fresh

Store it cool, dark and airtight, ideally in the fridge for full-melt grades. Cold storage protects the terpenes and keeps the melt clean, so the last dab tastes as good as the first. Let it come up to room temperature before you handle piatella, as it firms up when cold.

What is piatella hash?

Piatella starts as full-melt ice water hash, usually washed from fresh frozen flower. It is dried cold, spread out flat, sealed with as little air as possible and left somewhere cool for weeks, with no heat and no rosin press. What is the difference between Fresh Frozen and Dry Sift?

Fresh Frozen hash is ice-water washed from flower frozen live at harvest, so it captures the loudest, most true-to-plant terpenes. Dry Sift is sieved dry with no water at all, giving a classic kief-to-hash texture. FF usually melts fuller, while dry sift is a great everyday choice.
