When Mario Guzman of Sherbinskis crossed Sunset Sherbet with Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies in San Francisco during the mid-2010s, the seed run produced dozens of viable plants. Each got a number, nothing more. Pheno 41 stood out immediately for its resin production, colour, and a flavour profile so clean it earned the name “Bacio Gelato,” Italian for kiss. It was the forty-first plant selected, and it kissed harder than any of its siblings.

Sherbinskis went on to stabilize four main Gelato phenotypes for commercial production: 41 (Bacio), 33 (Larry Bird), 43 (Gello), and 47 (Mochi). Of these, Gelato 41 became the most sought-after cut in the world, regularly testing above 25% THC with a terpene complexity that made growers, smokers, and breeders all pay attention.
