The Story Behind Phat Gary

Phat Gary comes from a Power Sherb limited drop, a six-pack of crosses that paired the loud Sherb funk with a roster of modern exotics. This one took Gary Payton, the Cookies-fam celebrity cut Kenny Dumetz of Powerzzzup Genetics built from The Y crossed with Snowman, and ran it into Power Sherb. The Gary Payton name itself is a basketball nod, Powerzzzup kept phenotype number twenty because that was the Hall of Famer’s jersey number, and both halves of that cross trace back to Girl Scout Cookies, so there is a dessert backbone buried in the genetics from the start.

Power Sherb pulls the other way, an indica-leaning Exotic Genetix line out of Sunset Sherbert and Cookies and Cream, heavy and sweet where Gary Payton is sharp and gassy. Madlabs took that flower and washed it fresh frozen rather than drying it first, freezing the plant at harvest to lock in the living terpene load before ice-water extraction. That is why the hash reads so much louder than the bud, you get the full berry-and-pepper aroma of the line preserved and concentrated.
