Z-Chew by The Tenco is the candy sister of Pizen: creamy chews and overripe fruit on the nose, then a clear-headed lift that lets the body go without the couch.

Z-Chew by The Tenco

Z-Chew by The Tenco is an indica-leaning hybrid (40/60) born from Pi Chew 1 x Kaizen 18, a TenCo exclusive bred by Ronin Seeds with Raw Genetics. At an estimated 24-28% THC, this cut by The Tenco trades the fuel of its sister Pizen for creamy candy and overripe fruit, and the high keeps a clear head while the body lets go. Best for day / night.

Original Cali Pack by The Tenco, 7g jar.

The Story Behind Z-Chew

Z-Chew and Pizen are sisters, two keepers from the same cross. Ronin Seeds made the seeds with Zikigai Gardens, the shop Raw Genetics now trade from, and The Tenco released both cuts. Ronin’s own post gives the recipe: Pi Chew 1 crossed with Kaizen 18, the number 5 pheno, a TenCo exclusive that leans further toward the Z side than Pizen 9, which carries more of the Pi Chew. The name reads like that recipe too, the Z of Kaizen and the Chew of Pi Chew, and the jar plays along with a pile of pink chewy candy cubes on the label and The Tenco’s “Keep it ten.” sign-off.

Both parents come out of the Z family. Pi Chew is Ronin Seeds’ cross of Z Pie and Zuyaqui, a loud, tropical cut that smokers describe as eye-opening and mellow, with a heavier edge at high doses. The other parent, Kaizen, is Raw Genetics’ Z backcross: their Zikigai, already twice bred into Z, crossed back to Z once more. They describe it as Z candy with a pungent twist, relaxing and uplifting, good for creativity and focus. Z-Chew sits between those two parents, tilted toward the Kaizen.

Now the honest part. There is no lab sheet for Z-Chew, so the THC range, the 40/60 split and the terpenes on this page are estimated from the parents and from Pizen, not tested. The sensory notes come from The Highest Critic’s review of the jar, 8.3 out of 10 in July 2026, which listed the genetics as undisclosed; the cross itself comes from Ronin’s post.

The Nose

Candy shop first, fruit bowl second. The jar smells rich, creamy and sweet, a chewy candy note with a sharp, overripe fruit edge, like a bag of fruit chews left out on a hot day. A light gassy thread and an earthy base stop it from tipping into pure confectionery. Break it up and the picture shifts toward floral sweetness, cream and a doughy, almost dessert-tray softness, with a touch of sourness and a hint of tropical fruit, the Pi Chew side showing. That soft floral layer points to Linalool, which leads the Z side of this family, while Limonene most likely carries the bright fruit. Meanwhile the gas and the dough lean on Caryophyllene and Myrcene. One caveat from the reviewer, though: the terps came across a little muted for a label this loud.

The Smoke

On the inhale the flowers come forward, floral, rich and creamy, with a funky streak and syrupy candy underneath. The exhale turns sweet and gassy, then earthy and doughy, sugar and bread trading places. As you work down the joint, the creamy sweetness grows rather than fades. The smoke itself is thick and expands in the lungs without scratching, and the reviewer’s joint burned clean with a solid oil ring.

The High

It lands up top. A euphoric rush comes first, uplifting and clear rather than foggy, and the head stays focused enough for a real conversation. A creative, slightly spacey float follows, with pressure building around the temples and the eyes. Then the body goes relaxed and calming, loose but grounded, never slumped into the cushions. That clear-headed balance is the Kaizen showing through, the same mix of relaxing and uplifting Raw Genetics describe in the parent. Push past a joint and the eyelids get heavy; stay with one and the evening is still yours. A late-afternoon jar that rolls into the night without asking for the couch.

Who Should Try Z-Chew by The Tenco?

Z-Chew by The Tenco suits a regular smoker who wants a candy jar with a clear head attached. At an estimated 24-28% THC it is not a beginner’s strain, yet the anxiety risk reads low and the high stays even, so it works from late afternoon into the evening without taking the night away. If stress, worry or a flat mood is what you smoke for, this is a sensible reach: it lifts first and lets the body go without switching you off, and it wakes up a quiet appetite along the way. Newer smokers should start with a single pull and give it ten minutes. And if you liked Pizen but wanted less fuel and more candy, this is the sister to try next.
