The Story Behind Chantilly

Perfect Tree are a boutique Spanish outfit out of Barcelona, and Chantilly is one of the last four releases in their Jet A line. The cross is LA Kush Cake, the Seed Junky plant, over Exotic Genetix’ Jet A, which is a stack of two American breeders filtered through a European selection programme. It stays short and bushy indoors, finishes in eight weeks, and puts out flowers that are dense to the point of being awkward to break by hand.

The reason it ends up in a press rather than a jar is resin. Chantilly is specifically sought out for hash and concentrate work because of how much of it there is and how complex the terpene load stays through extraction, and that is exactly why Terps O Kofi run it. What you are buying is the cookie-and-cream side of the plant concentrated to where it belongs.

The Nose

Warm rather than loud, which is unusual for something this strong. The jar reads as cookie first, buttery and baked, then a thick cream layer arrives underneath that is doing most of the talking. Behind those two sits a genuine hazelnut note, nutty and a little toasted, which is the detail that makes this one memorable.

Right at the back there is a spicy bite and a thin diesel edge that keeps the dessert from being cloying. The rosin itself is pale and buttery in texture. Caryophyllene dominates, which explains both the pepper and the weight, with Myrcene underneath it and Limonene lifting the edges.

The Dab

Take it low. At temperature this turns into something close to melted biscuit, all cream and toasted nut, and the sweet lasts well past the exhale. Push the heat and you lose the hazelnut entirely and gain harshness, which is a poor trade on a rosin this expensive. Meanwhile the diesel only shows on the back end, and it works better as a suggestion than as a flavour.

The High

It opens friendlier than it finishes. The first stretch is genuinely Giggly, with Happy, Euphoric and even Creative in the mix, and for ten or fifteen minutes it does not feel like a 5 out of 5 at all.

Then the Body High lands and keeps landing. Relaxed becomes Heavy, the couch stops being furniture and becomes a destination, and the Hungry that comes with it is not subtle. It is also Long Lasting, which on a concentrate at this strength means you should clear the schedule rather than plan around it.

Who Should Try Chantilly by Terps O Kofi?

Concentrate smokers, at the end of the day. Chantilly by Terps O Kofi is a proper solventless press of a plant bred for exactly this, and if you dab regularly it is one of the better things on the menu. The flavour holds at low temperature better than most rosins we carry, which is where the money goes.

Anxiety risk is low, so the weight is physical rather than mental, but do not mistake that for gentle.
