The Adios MF Donut rolls 2g of the cross that became Permanent Marker around a core of La Bomba rosin. Ink and gas up front, lemon and vanilla behind, then a long, heavy landing.

Adios MF Donut

The Adios MF Donut takes 2g of the cross the world now knows as Permanent Marker and rolls it around a half-gram core of La Bomba rosin. Loud ink and gas on the nose, lemon and vanilla sweetness from the rosin, and a landing heavy enough that you should plan the rest of your evening before you light it.

Why We Roll This One

Adios MF is not a nickname we made up. It is a name Seed Junky Genetics in Los Angeles gave to a three-way cross of Biscotti, Sherb BX and Jealousy before it was famous, when the cross circulated quietly as Adios MF and as Gunnpowwder. Then Doja picked it up and released it in 2022 as Permanent Marker, the strain took off across the US, and Leafly named it the 2023 Strain of the Year. The genetics never changed, only the label, and the jar we roll this donut from still carries the older one. That jar is grown in living soil, which is the kind of flower we want on our shelf.

On its own the flower is already one of the heaviest hitters we stock, from a cross known for 25 to 30% THC and a reputation for flattening people. So the rosin had to earn its place by flavour, not by force. La Bomba, a Compound Genetics cross of Wedding Cake and Jet Fuel Gelato, brings vanilla and lemon on top and a diesel note underneath that runs straight into the flower’s gas instead of fighting it. In a donut, the rosin is rolled into a thin rope and laid down the middle of the joint with the flower packed around it. As it burns, the core melts slightly ahead of the paper, which leaves the ring of ash at the tip that gives the format its name and slows the whole joint down.

The Nose

Pop the tube and it becomes obvious why this cross ended up named after a pen. The top note is sharp, chemical marker ink riding on heavy gas, with something sweet and creamy underneath, the Biscotti and Sherb side of the family showing through. Hold the tip closer and the rosin adds its own layer: fresh lemon peel, which is the Limonene, and a soft vanilla that comes from the Wedding Cake in La Bomba. Meanwhile the Myrcene sits at the bottom of all of it, musky and dense, a fair warning of how this joint ends.

The Smoke

Give it a moment once it is lit. A donut takes a few seconds longer to get going than a plain joint, because the core needs heat before it starts to move, and after that the burn settles into a slow, even line. The smoke is dense and slightly oily rather than harsh, coating the tongue with gas first and then the lemon of the rosin on the exhale. Around halfway the two swap places: the chemical edge fades, the vanilla comes forward, and the Caryophyllene leaves a peppery warmth at the back of the throat. Two grams around a rosin core lasts a long time, so this one is made for passing around.

The High

The opening minutes are the friendly part. It comes on euphoric, with a tingly warmth across the face and shoulders that is mostly La Bomba talking. Then the Permanent Marker genetics take over and do what they are known for: a heavy body stone that leaves you deeply relaxed and in no hurry to stand up. It is long lasting as well, not something you smoke and shake off within the hour. The ink and gas linger on the palate even after the high starts to fade, which feels about right for a strain that took its final name from something that does not wash off.

Who Should Try the Adios MF Donut?

Experienced smokers who already know they love gas, and who want one joint to last a whole conversation. If you have smoked our Permanent Marker by the gram, the Adios MF Donut is the same genetics from a different jar with half a gram of rosin added, so take the first few pulls slowly and judge it from there. It tends to suit the end of a stressful day or a body that aches after one, and people who struggle to switch off at night often reach for strains like this one. If you are prone to anxiety, keep the pulls small and the company calm. If you rarely smoke, start with a plain joint instead, and nobody should be driving afterwards.
