The Story Behind Giraffe Puzzy

The name comes from the phrase “higher than a giraffe’s puzzy,” and the strain lives up to it. The genetics trace back to JBeezy (Anthony Hart) at Seed Junky Genetics, who started breeding in a Southern California garage in the early 2000s and went on to create Wedding Cake, Ice Cream Cake, Kush Mints, and Jealousy. His “Zebra Ztripez” project (Z Animal bx1) crossed Zkittlez with Animal Cookies and backcrossed the result. Phenotype #2 was the standout.

That’s where Ryan Bartholomew comes in. Known as Doja Pak, the Sacramento legacy operator behind RS-11 and Permanent Marker, he selected the #2 cut from JBeezy’s work and renamed it for retail as Giraffe Puzzy. As JBeezy himself confirmed: “Zebra Ztripez = Z Animal bx1, which means we backcrossed our selection of Zkittlez x Animal Cookies bx2 #2. This is the cut that hit multiple brands in Cali retails and was renamed by Doja.” The strain sells out within days of every drop in California’s exotic market.

The Nose

Rich and layered, with a sweet tropical wave that hits first, like ripe papaya cut with something sugary. The candy note from the Zkittlez parent is obvious, sitting right next to a deeper earthy funkiness that comes from the Animal Cookies side. Caryophyllene provides the warm, peppery backbone, while Myrcene fills out the musky base underneath all that fruit. Break a nug and there’s a citrus pop, bright and tangy, with Limonene adding sparkle. The fruity quality is complex rather than one-dimensional, shifting between different fruit notes as you keep breaking up the bud. Dense nuggets with dark green hues and scattered orange pistils, thick trichome coverage.

The Smoke

Full-bodied smoke that coats the mouth. The tropical candy sweetness dominates the inhale, smooth and rich.
