The Smoke

Cleaner burning and noticeably more talkative on the palate. The lemon survives all the way to the exhale instead of being buried under fuel, and the pine arrives late with a peppery tail. It takes heat better than the 90 and leaves less residue behind, so it is the easier of the two on a bowl. As you go, the diesel builds rather than leads, which is the reverse of how the coarse screen behaves.

The High

Same shape, gentler slope. It opens euphoric with that short racing window the cut is known for, then the tingly wave comes through and the body settles. Relaxed holds for a good while before it turns heavy, and the hungry phase is every bit as insistent here as on the coarse screen. Where it differs is the tail: it stays calming rather than flattening, so you get more usable evening out of it before sleep takes over. Still a night piece, just a longer one.
